[Alister Rayner]My great grandmother Gladys Weller, and her husband Edmund Alderson Sandford Fawcett, were both very serious croquet players, and both were champions of both Wimbledon and Hurlingham, and Croquet Champion of All England, back in the days when the Wimbledon Croquet and Tennis club was more famous for croquet than tennis!
Edmund and Gladys were married at St Martin-in-the-Field in Trafalgar Square. He was an engineer and senior civil servant, and organised the ammunition supplies for the trenches in World War I.[Alister Rayner]
