St. Mary ' s, Amersham.

Sacred to the memory of William Weller, died March 31st. 1802 in the 75th. year of his age. Also Ann wife of the above named William Weller, died_ April 1817 in the 85th. year of her age. Sacred to the memory of Lydia, wife of William Hickman late of Daventry in the County of Northampton, who died 11th. May 1810 age 65(?) years. Also of Eliza daughter of John and Elizabeth Weller granddaughter of the above named Lydia Hickman , who died 26th. October 1810 (age 6 years). Sacred to the memory of George Channer Esq. of Great Winchester Street, London, who died at Amersham 28th. November 1830 age 51. Also to the memory of Mary widow of the above died at St. John's Wood, London, 14th. November 1860 age 77, daughter of William and Sarah Weller.
John Weller departed this life 24th. December 1843 in the 85th. year of his age. Also Elizabeth his widow departed this life October 23rd. 1851 age 82 years. Sacred to the memory of Katherine wife of John Weller died 12th. April 1799 age 38. Also Katherine daughter of the above John and Katherine died 19th. September 1795 age 6 months. Edward Weller, eldest son of John and Katherine, died 7th. August 1850 aged 59 years, also Caroline his widow who died 13 November 1874 aged 81 years.
William Weller died the _2 May 1843 in the 80th. year of his age. Also Sarah wife of the above died the _ March 1820 age (35 or 55). This one was badly worn

James son of William and Sarah died Sept _ age 27, Also Benjamin their youngest son died Feb.(9) 1820 in 18th. year. Also Ann wife of William Hill Pears and daughter of William and Sarah died at _ September 1829. Also Charles Richard son of above _

The rest is illegible.

John Lacey Weller son of William and Sarah died the (3) April 1823 (or 5) age 33. Also Henry eldest son of William and Sarah, died at Black River, (Jamaica) 23rd. March 18(13) age 27 years of age.

I noted the above inscriptions in the early '70s. Some parts were already difficult to read, ten years later they were almost completely illegible. I have enclosed doubtful parts in brackets.

In the cemetery, Amersham, there is a table tomb with inscriptions to Henry, died (1918) age (12); Lydia, died (1908) age (66); Mary died May 17 1871 age 25; William died September age (62) and his widow Lydia died November 1897 age 79; William their eldest son died January 1908 age 67. Another grave is of Edward, born 8th. Augast 1843, died 10th. June 1890, and John, died April 1893 age 41 Almost illegible is the gravestone of Blanche Heath Weller who died 8th. December 1921 age 72, and her husband George Weller who died 23rd. October 1929 age 84.

 

PENN CHURCHYARD.

Sacred to the memory of Thomas Weller of this parish who departed this life June 20th. 1823 aged 62 years. Also Charlotte his wife who died May 21st. 1845 in the 82nd. year of her age. Also Mary Treacher daughter of the above, died October 25th. 1830 aged 41 years. Also Elizabeth Prindible their daughter who died June 9th. 1857. Edward Weller, son of Thomas and Charlotte, died December 23rd. 1826 age 19. This stone had been removed from the grave and was lying under a tree.
